CodeRabbit completed 1,049,817 reviews on open-source repositories in September 2026, a monthly record and 14.4% more than in August. On September 30 alone, 47,585 open-source reviews ran through the platform.

We’re grateful to the maintainers and contributors who use CodeRabbit to review and improve open source software. CodeRabbit evaluates proposed changes in the context of the broader codebase and flags possible bugs and security issues before merge. It also helps maintainers prioritize incoming pull requests and explains how a change may affect the project. That independent view helps maintainers and contributors evaluate the work, and the decision to merge stays with the people responsible for the project.

For Tanner Linsley, creator of TanStack, CodeRabbit has become an integral part of the project's workflow.

“CodeRabbit feels native to everything we do now, especially with AI. Not using it today would be like racing Formula One without a seatbelt or a helmet,” he said.

More reviews, month after month

September’s milestone follows months of rising review volume. CodeRabbit handled 421,336 open-source reviews in April, passed 800,000 in July, and reached 917,439 in August before crossing 1 million in September.

CodeRabbit is installed on more than 300,000 public repositories and is free for anyone working on them, with tools to review code, prioritize pull requests, understand changes, and identify possible security issues.

Supporting the people behind the repositories

Open source is woven into the software people use every day, from websites and mobile apps to the infrastructure behind businesses and public services. A package installed in seconds may represent years of maintenance, bug fixes, compatibility work, and contributor feedback.

Maintainers investigate failures, assess contributions, address security issues, and keep their projects compatible as dependencies change. That work continues long after a release ships. Funding and practical support give maintainers more time for the projects so many others depend on.

In August, we committed more than $10 million in direct support for open source over 12 months. That includes cash sponsorships and free CodeRabbit access for public repositories. As of October 8, our public tracker showed more than $1.3 million counted toward that commitment.

We previously pledged $1 million to maintainers and paid more than $1.2 million in cash. Those payments are separate from the new commitment.

Fatih Kadir Akın is the creator and maintainer of prompts.chat, one of the projects CodeRabbit sponsors.

“Open Source grows when companies don’t just benefit from it, but give back to it,” he said. “CodeRabbit’s sponsorship helps prompts.chat remain open and accessible to everyone, forever.”

stablyai/orca topped the September 2026 leaderboard for the free open-source tier with 5,629 reviews, followed by pingdotgg/t3code with 3,856 and manaflow-ai/cmux with 3,475. The rest of the top 10 are below.

Thank you to the maintainers who trust us with a place in their review process and to the contributors who take the time to work through CodeRabbit’s feedback. We’ll keep investing in the tools and sponsorships that support your projects.
